1. When is it?

  • 9:00am-10:00am:  Race day registration & passport pick up open
  • 10:00am:  Gorilla Trek starts

2. What is it?  The Gorilla Trek is an urban safari where you  walk or run to participating locations (no gorilla suit required), visit The Wildlife Experience exhibits, wander the Wildlife Trail around the property, or answer trivia questions to receive prize numbers for your chance to win great prizes! The adventure continues at the after party with a prize drawing, food, beer, and fun. You'll also have the opportunity to meet Mountain Gorilla Conservation Fund founder Ruth Keesling and view the Mountain Gorilla Keeping Dian Fossey's Dream Alive exhibit.

4. What does it cost to register?
To secure your place, all participants need to pay a non-refundable registration fee.

6. What comes with registration?
With registration, you'll receive your event passport to fill up with stamps and earn as many prize numbers as possible. The Silverback After Party is also included. Plus, you can visit the unique exhibits at The Wildlife Experience for the rest of the day! 

7. How long will it take?
You will receive the map of participating locations and museum exhibits in your passport on event morning and have 60 minutes (starting at 10am) to visit the checkpoints, answer trivia questions, collect as many prize numbers as possible and get back to the finish line in time for the prize drawings. If you chose to visit a participating location, please remember...you must obey all traffic laws!

8. How do I get prize numbers? 
There are many ways to earn prize numbers on event day. You can visit participating locations, answer trivia questions, make a donation or retail purchase, become a fundraiser, visit one of the vendor tents and more. Plus, if you purchase and wear the safari hat on event day, you'll receive DOUBLE numbers for the prize drawing!

9. What are the prizes? 
Prizes include Silverback Jewelry, Silverback Skateboard, gift certificates, african crafts, Gorilla Glue prize packs and more!

10. How do I become a fundraiser? 
Please help us save the mountain gorillas by becoming a fundraiser. We recommend setting a goal of $250. 100% of donations will go to support a project managed by the Mountain Gorilla Conservation Fund. 
Ask your friends, neighbors, family and colleagues to help support you in this very unique event. Check out the fundraising section of the website for more details and a fundraising toolkit.  Remember...fundraisers can earn extra prize numbers for the drawing!

11. What's up with the Silverback After Party?
For participants, the Silverback After Party is included with event registration. More details to be posted soon.
